INS AND OUTS - GLASS

So.
Having worked at various “adult boutiques” on and off for the past five years, you get to know all the lines. “Hey, condoms! You guys got a fitting room? Hyuk hyuk, hyuk.” “Where do the massages happen? It’s okay, I’m not a cop.” “My girl doesn’t need a vibrator, she’s got me.” “Glass?? But what happens if it breaks inside you??” This last one I’ve heard with increasing frequency of late, so I’d like to take a minute to talk about glass: why it’s awesome, why it’s worth the money, and why no, it won’t break inside you.
So first and foremost: that fear. I get it. Nothing is more horrifying than the thought of some thin, glass thing shattering inside my…oh man. I can’t even say it. I’ll just say the word shards….
Thankfully, glass dildos aren’t made out of the same stuff as a wine glass. They’re made of pyrex, or close variations, which makes them extremely resistant to temperature variances and shatter-proof. Pyrex is a completely non-porous material. That makes it really easy to clean, with no little nooks and crannies for bacteria to potentially hide in. If you’re planning on sharing your toy with anyone, this is a really good option as clean-up is a breeze. In fact, glass toys are dishwasher safe, can be boiled, bleached (and then rinsed!), and will not break down over time like plastics. This is especially important for people with any sensitivities to rubber, silicon, latex, or other plastics. Glass is completely hypoallergenic and will not cause any allergic reactions. With careful care, a glass dildo can last a lifetime without any change or degradation to the material. An economically and ecologically sound choice!
Unlike certain squishy materials, glass is safe to use with any lubricant. That makes it an excellent material for fun in the shower or bath, silicone lubricant will not break down glass, and will stay slippery until washed off with soap. It is also safe to use with water based lubricants, oils, or whatever else you like to use. Worry free!
Glass also holds temperature really well. Put a glass toy in some warm water for ten minutes and you’ve got a body-heat temperature toy (do a little wrist check for the temperature first to avoid any unwanted burnage). Or, stick it in the freezer for a chilly treat!
The feeling of glass is also unlike any other material. Because it’s so hard and un-giving, glass toys tend to feel larger than they are, giving a particular feeling of fullness. This is really good for G and P-spot stimulation, which respond primarily to pressure. Glass toys are also frequently crafted with all kinds of bumps and textures for an exciting variety of sensations.
Lastly, glass is just plain pretty. Glass toys are hand-crafted by artisans, making each one unique. There are all kinds of techniques for creating beautiful swirling colours, metallic glints, and oozing, dripping shapes. These are toys you could gladly display in a case along with your crystal and china (if you have such things.)
So there you go, frequent customer. No need to fear glass. And if you find yourself in a sex shop (ours! It's the best!) please for the love of whoever, resist the urge to make stupid jokes. Trust me, we've heard em all.
