Things to keep in mind when indulging in sex and drugs.
A lot of things in this article are probably things we already know, but it's always good to have a reminder. Safety is our #1 priority (#2 is having fun). I'm framing this article with the idea of going out to a bar/club, so some of these "rules" aren't applicable if you're staying home. Safe sex applies everywhere though.
Things to do before leaving the house
-Let your friends know where you plan on going.
-
- -Keep them updated if you're changing plans.
-Eat a balanced meal.
-
- -Heavy food is going to make you feel extra bad after a night of drinking. Vitamin C really helps with the morning after.
-Pack some condoms.
-
- -Avoid condom storage in wallets as friction can damage them overtime.
Things to remember when out
-Stick with you group and travel together.
-
- -Always let them know where you're going.
Drink slowly and have water between drinks.
-Don't take any drinks or drugs from strangers.
-Test your drugs and learn how to reduce risks of overdosing.
-Don't mix substances.
-It's always ok to say no.
-
- -Don't let anyone pressure your into doing things you don't want to.
Things to remember when leaving
-Absolutely no driving after any substances.
-Leave in a group.
-
- -If you're leaving with someone you just met, trust your instinct.
- -Let your friends know where you're going to be.
- -Never leave in an unmarked cab.
- →If you're taking an Uber, be sure that the car you're entering is the same as you ordered.
-If you're uncomfortable, tell your friends you'd like to leave.
-
- -They can either wait with you for your ride home or go with you.
Things to remember in the bedroom
-Use those condoms you brought with you.
-Consent is always key.
-
- -Discuss what you would like to do with your partner(s), ideally before you use substances.
-You can always change your mind.
-
- -If you said "yes" to sex earlier, it doesn't mean you have to say yes now.
- -Saying "stop" is also perfectly acceptable.
-Respect yourself and others.
Things that apply everywhere
-No means no.
-Maybe is a no.
-Anything but a yes is a no.
