"Impact play" is a broad type of kink that typically involves a power exchange (e.g. between a submissive and a dominant) where the submissive receives pain through impact.
The two general categories for toys fall under two major sensation types: "thuddy" or "stingy". Thuddy toys are more heavy-handed, and have weight to them - they can sometimes lead to bruising.
